Model arrested in Hawaii on murder charges
HILO, Hawaii –
Law enforcement in Hawaii on Wednesday arrested social media model Courtney Clenney on charges of second-degree murder with a deadly weapon.
The Hawaii County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement they assisted the U.S. Police Service when they arrested the 26-year-old in Laupahoehoe, on the Big Island. The officers used an arrest warrant issued by Miami-Dade County, Florida.
Police said she is being held at the East Hawaii Detention Center pending her initial court date in Hilo County Court on Thursday.
The police statement gave no details of the charges against her, but the Miami Herald reported that Clenney was accused of stabbing her boyfriend to death in April.
Her Miami defense attorney, Frank Prieto, told the Miami Herald that she was in Hawaii during rehabilitation for substance abuse and post-traumatic stress disorder.
“I am completely shocked, especially since we are cooperating with the investigation and offer to hand her over voluntarily if she is charged,” Prieto said. “We look forward to clearing her name in court.”
