Mikey Garcia helped Joshua train for the Usyk rematch, saying “AJ has everything to win”
Via Allan Fox: Mikey Garcia announced he has arrived in London and helped Anthony Joshua train for his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk on August 20, with hints.
Former 4-division world champion Mikey says Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs) has taken the advice he’s given. He feels confident he will beat unified heavyweight champion Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs) on August 20 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Hopefully the tips Garcia gives Joshua doesn’t involve him going out and throwing rudimentary hayworkers, hopefully landing on Usyk’s chin.
To be fair, if Joshua had tried to woo Usyk, he would have lost more heavily than last September.
“He is working with AJ, but I’m sure it’s not easy being away from home for so long, and that’s why we wanted to visit him and spend time with him so he wouldn’t be too lonely. single. long,” Mikey Garcia told Fighthype about his brother Robert Garcia, who once coached Anthony Joshua in England.
“We went through training with AJ for a few days. He looks very good. It seems like they have a really good game plan also. My father and I watched. Rob is clearly very, very good at what he does.
“So we followed up and came up with some comments, and they [Team Joshua] paid attention to whatever my father and I had to say and so did Robert.
“We feel good about the fight. I feel that AJ has everything to win struggle. They review and analyze each individual fighter to know what they are for their fighting fish type.
“Didn’t take anything from Usyk, and Usyk won the first match [with Joshua]. So it’s not like, ‘Oh f***, this is going to be an easy fight.’ Well, no, but when you look at what they bring to the ring, AJ has everything you need to beat a boxer like Usyk.
“I think he should win. However, it should be a good fight. I do not know maybe. We’ll see,” Mikey said when asked if he’ll attend Joshua vs. Usyk II or not. “We’ll see if I have anything else to do in those days.
“It is a long flight, and I will have to fly out a few days before the battle. We’ll see,” Mikey said.
