Men’s Brandish Swords, Guns in the Dussehra Race, Police Say “Tradition”

Armed men were seen dancing to religious songs

Siddharth Nagar:

A huge crowd, carrying saffron flags and chanting “Jai Shree Ram”, brandished swords and guns during a Dussehra rally in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.

Police say that performing such processions in Dussehra or Vijay Dashami is a traditional practice, marking the end of the 10-day festival of Durga Puja.

The incident was reported from the Siddharth Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh.

Several videos, which are now widely circulated, show protesters swinging their swords and guns while loud music plays in the background.

Armed men danced to religious songs and held up the slogan “Jai Shree Ram”.

Some were spotted making videos and taking selfies.

Some people have taken to social media, demanding action against those protesting for wielding swords and guns.

Responding to one such tweet, police said it was tradition to carry out armed processions in Dussehra.

Police said an investigation was underway to investigate other allegations.
