Mazda CX-90 releases another teaser, this time with revealed interior details
Mazda released another teaser for its upcoming CX-90 luxury SUV. This time, the focus is on the interior. From what we can see, the rear-wheel drive three-row sedan with inline six power certainly looks like a posh place to drive.
This is the latest product of Mazda Video series “unboxing”, hosted by actor Hiroyuki Sanada. Of course, since this is a trailer, most of the footage has extreme close-ups. That gives us insight into the details, and it looks like Mazda’s designers really sweated them out.
For example, a pad on a perforated leather seat is not simply a strip of black fabric. There’s a bit of gray through, reminiscent of the fabric used in a nice vest. The dashboard and door panels appear to be wrapped in a wool-like fabric. Neighboring light buildings are textured with lines rather than flat. The stitching on the dashboard is not just the standard style you see on cars, but a traditional Japanese style used to seal the paper. All very luxurious.
Mazda designer Yasutake Tsuchida also introduced a new exterior color, Red Artist. It’s much darker than Mazda’s signature Soul The red we know, mixed with black.
A separate look at the center stack reveals a bunch of physical buttons, a plus for those who don’t like touchscreens. It looks like Mazda’s infotainment screen interface remains at the top of the dashboard, operated via touch or by means of a control knob on the center console. The traditional PRNDL gear selector remains; thankfully it hasn’t been superseded by a bunch of buttons.
The CX-90 has been around for a while, but this will be the last. The global reveal takes place next Monday, January 31.
All of this is combined with Mazda’s new 3.3-liter inline-six engine, making 340 369 lb-ft of horsepower and torque, a very neat package.
