NEW DELHI: Indian Table Tennis Star Manika Batra on Tuesday jumped three places to reach a career-high 35 in ITTF World Ranking.
The 27-year-old put on an exceptional performance to win India’s first medal at the Asian Cup in November. She stunned the world number five. Hina Hayata of Japan and number seven in the world Tran Hung Dong of China en route to winning the historic bronze medal in Bangkok.
That effort earned her 175 points in the leaderboard, helping her rise to the top. She also reached the semi-finals of two WTT Contenders events in Hungary and Slovenia.

The Asian Cup medal comes after she returned home empty-handed from the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Four years earlier on the Gold Coast, she had pocketed four medals, including two golds in an unprecedented run.
She will compete this weekend at the Asian qualifying event in Doha for the World Championship. She will also be in Doha for WTT Contenders later this month before featuring in WTT Star Contenders in Goa next month.
In the men’s rankings, G Sathiyan remained at 39th place while veteran Sharath Kamal slipped three places to 47th place.
