Fadnavis prepares to return as Maharashtra Minister
The morning after Uddhav Thackeray resigned as Maharashtra Minister, the BJP is likely to hold a series of meetings to discuss forming a government in the state along with the Shiv Sena MLA rebels. Devendra Fadnavis will approach the Governor to request the formation of a government, to which the Shinde faction will return with their 39 MLA Shiv Sena and other independent parties.
Last night, several MLAs flocked to former prime minister Fadnavis’s residence and exchanged wishes and sweets after the fall of Thackeray’s government.
BJP has required all its MLAs to be in Mumbai. Meanwhile, the head of the party’s state unit Chandrakant Patil said that Eknath Shinde, who leads the MLA insurgency and has been in Guwahati since June 22, along with Fadnavis will decide on the next course of action.
