Lionesses qualify for World Cup in 2023 after beating Austria | UK News


England have continued their victory, securing a spot in the 2023 World Cup, just a month after the historic win at the Euros.

Goals from Alessia Russo and substitute Nikita Parris were enough for the European champions to beat Austria 2-0 at Wiener Neustadt on Saturday.

The Lionesses Just one point is needed to secure the top spot in Group D and a spot in next summer’s show in Australia and New Zealand.

They finished with all three wins, taking nine wins – and keeping a clean sheet – from multiple games in the group for Sarina Wiegman’s side.

Wiegman described Saturday’s venue as “a bit disappointing”.

It has now been confirmed that England will play a friendly match against world champions USA at Wembley in October.
