“I’ve been a little bit battered on stage lately. Not much battered but just… I wouldn’t say nervous but I think as you get older you get a little more… you don’t. So I drank a glass of brandy just to relax a bit.
“When you get there, then you’re thinking, about the seventh song or the sixth song, you’re thinking, ‘Yeah, this is really okay, man. I’ll have another one’.
“Then when the eighth song comes out, when you’ve finished your 20th song, you’ve finished a bottle.
“But now I’m relaxed. For the last few gigs I’ve been in, ‘maybe relax’. You don’t want to be dependent on getting on stage with alcohol.”
He continued: “I don’t usually drink before I move on. I haven’t been drinking in years so I went back to drinking before moving on. But I think it’s a bit like a camp. prison.
“It’s all in moderation, you know what I mean?”
