Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has revealed that he will not reprise his role as T’Challa in Black Panther next part Wakanda Forever after the death of Chadwick Boseman.

In an interview with Empire, Feige insisted Boseman should be honored, not replaced, in Ryan Coogler’s next film..

“It seems too early to draw conclusions. Stan Lee has always said that Marvel represents the world outside your window. And we talked about how, as extraordinary and magical as our characters and stories, there’s a relatable and human element to everything we do. The world is still dealing with the loss of Chad. And Ryan poured that into the story,” said the Marvel Studios boss Empire.

Stan Lee and Jack Kirby created the T’Challa/Black Panther character in 1966. After Boseman died of colon cancer in August 2020, Marvel and the filmmakers were forced to take it back. Black Panther 2.

“Conversations completely revolved around, yes, ‘What do we do next? And how does Chadwick’s legacy – and what he did to help make Wakanda and Black Panther such incredible, aspirational, iconic ideas – continue? ‘ That’s all it happens to be,” Feige said.

Wakanda Forever is Coogler’s sequel to his 2018 film that became a cultural spotlight and earned a Best Picture Oscar nomination. Coogler wrote the sequel to Black Manipulate star Boseman foretold his untimely death.

So Coogler and Marvel Studios had to work to find a way to move forward while honoring Boseman’s legacy.

Wakanda Forever stars Lupita Nyong’o, Wright, Winston Duke, Danai Gurira, Florence Kasumba, Bassett and Martin Freeman, as well as Marvel newcomer Tenoch Huerta as Namor and Dominique Thorne as hero Riri Williams.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will hit theaters on November 11.
