“Turkiye welcomed 5.2 tourists in 2019, generating $34.5 billion in tourism revenue. Of these, 2.3 lakh are Indian nationals, which is the highest number of Indian tourists recorded to date by the country,” TTB said in a statement.
Now, Turkiye, like most major global tourist destinations, is looking to attract expats as travel restrictions ease during the pandemic. India’s Globetrotter is making the most of this reopening, especially after regular overseas flights were allowed by India earlier this year.
