Judge rules that Twitter’s lawsuit against Elon Musk can go ahead with a 5-day trial starting in October

The ongoing saga currently lighting up the tech world has just taken another interesting turn, as an update has been provided regarding the legal battle between Twitter and Elon Musk. According to recent court documents, a judge has officially ruled that Twitter’s case against Elon Musk can proceed with a trial scheduled to begin in October.

@CNN reports, earlier today a judge officially decided that Twitter may proceed with a lawsuit against Elon Musk, after Musk changed his mind about acquiring the popular social media platform for $44 billion. In the judge’s ruling, it was also confirmed that the case will involve a five-day trial that will begin in October. This decision is the final motion to be decided in the first hearing of the case. judgment, on whether to proceed with the case.

Things were said to have gotten pretty heated during the first hearing as Twitter’s chief advisor William Savitt criticized Elon Musk, saying that due to Musk’s shift, there was uncertainty hanging on Twitter from the deal. prominence and litigation “harms Twitter every day, every hour, every day. He continued, noting Musk’s frequent disparagement of Twitter on his personal account. “Musk was and still is contractually obligated to use its best efforts to close this transaction. What he’s doing is exactly the opposite; it’s vandalism,” says Savitt.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk’s attorney, Andrew Rossman, hit back at the allegations, defending his client that Musk “has no incentive to keep this up for a long time,” reminding the judge that Musk is still one of Twitter’s largest shareholders.

Rossman added that Twitter has not decided to sue Elon Musk until he has taken steps to officially terminate the $44 billion acquisition agreement, which certainly shows that Twitter’s option to wait will nullify their desire for an expedition. Rossman, along with the rest of Musk’s legal team, have suggested that the case go to trial early next year, however, that’s not possible now.
