Jermall Charlo Says De La Hoya Can “kiss My A**”
Via Robert Segal: Jermall Charlo has issued a staunch rebuttal to Golden Boy Promotion CEO Oscar De La Hoya’s claim to fight Jaime Munguia by asking him to kiss her on the back.
WBC middleweight champion Jermall (32-0, 22 KOs) looks VERY happy, has beautiful eyes, has made it clear to his followers on social media what he thinks about De La Hoya urged to face the undefeated WBC 2nd place Munguia (39 -0.31 KOs) next.
The way Charlo looked during his session on social media on Friday, you have to wonder if he is living the life of a boxer or has lost his appetite for the sport after earning millions of dollars.
Sometimes a boxer makes a ton of money in a short time, they buy big houses, expensive cars and indulge themselves with the richest food and best drinks. Unfortunately, that’s often the beginning of the end for boxers in regards to their career success.
“Tell Oscar De La Hoya to kiss me **,” Jermall said on social media, responding to De La Hoya after challenging him to face his boxer, Munguia.
Somehow Charlo, 32, was less eager to agree to face Munguia than perhaps it was too much of a risk for him.
Up until last week’s back injury, Jermall was scheduled to face 5th place WBC Maciej Sulecki on June 18.
Charlo has been swayed by the boxing public since announcing his fight against 33-year-old Sulecki (30-2, 11 KOs), as he was recently beaten by Demetrius Andrade and Danny Jacobs.
Sulecki is a step behind from Charlo’s recent lower-tier rivals Juan Macias Montiel and Dennis Hogan.
Jermall’s reluctance to take on Munguia could be a sign that he is unwilling to take any risks that could potentially upend a big money fight against Canelo Alvarez in 2023.
The way Jermall labored to beat the average Juan Macias Montiel last year in June shows it he lost too much from his game so that he can be trusted to defeat a fighter like Munguia.
De La Hoya explodes Jermall
“I hope Charlo develops some balls and tells his manager, tells his people, ‘I want to play Jaime Munguia,'” De La Hoya said this week with media.
“I want to fight the best. I don’t want to fight [Maciej] Sulecki. I don’t want to fight this guy or that guy. No, put Munguia vs Charlo, and that’s if Munguia beats Kelly.
“These are the battles that we have to fight. These are the fights boxing needs, the fans deserve, and we’ll do whatever it takes.
“I would never exclude my TV partner from any negotiation moment. There is always room for negotiation. Meet us halfway.
“We can walk across the street, we can meet in the middle of the street, whatever you want, but we want that fight.
“Without any more protection, he’s ready for anyone,” De La Hoya said when asked if Munguia is no longer under his protection.
