Jays coach Budzinski leaves team after daughter’s death

TORONTO (AP) – Toronto Blue Jays First junior coach Mark Budzinski will leave the team following the death of his eldest daughter, Julia.

“Budzinskis have been part of our Blue Jays family for the past four seasons,” general manager Ross Atkins said in a statement on Sunday. “Our entire organization feels this devastating loss and we grieve with Bud and his family. I have known Bud for over 25 years and I have always admired his commitment as a father and husband first of all. He is loved and respected by our entire club and holds a special place in our hearts. “
