ISL: ATK Mohun Bagan ends FC Goa’s 3-match unbeaten streak | Football news

KOLKATA: ATK Mohun Bagan broken FC Go Vapunbeaten streak in the Indian Super League with a 2-1 win here on Wednesday.
Anwar Ali’s first-half strike was not enough to score Dimitri Petratos and Hugo Boumous helped ATK Mohun Bagan reign supreme at Saltlake Stadium here.
Home team ATK Mohun Bagan got things going right after the game started, creating their first big chance in the sixth minute. Dimitri Petratos caught a loose ball on the edge of the penalty area and pulled the trigger, but his effort failed to hit the target.
Four minutes later, they were ahead. Once again, Petratos made the difference as he collected the ball from the throw-in, moved across the right and hit a shot into the near corner after parrying Goa goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh.
Gaur pulled back a goal 25 minutes into the match. Edu Bedia was too good to make a dangerous pass from a free kick that Anwar Ali stretched wide and put the ball into the net after a delicate touch.
After switching, it didn’t take long for the Mariners to regain the lead when former Bulls player Hugo Boumous scored in the 52nd minute.
Ashique Kuruniyan did a great job winning the ball in the dangerous area before passing it to Petratos. The Australian did well to look up and find Boumous in the far corner to give the hosts the lead once again.
After the loss, FC Goa is still in 5th place on the rankings. Their next match is a home clash with defending champions Hyderabad FC on 5 January.
