Instagram, a social media platform owned by Meta, provides alt text which is a short description used to explain the content on a post. Text feature appears when loading images. Social media platforms can create text for posts but you’re better off explaining your own posts through your own captions. Here are instructions on how to add and change alt text on Instagram posts:
Add alt text to a post
STEP 1. Open Instagram app on mobile phone.
STEP 2. Upload an existing photo.
STEP 3. Choose an image editing tool and a filter.
STEP 4. Now, tap the Next button.
STEP5. Continue with the Accessibility tab.
STEP6. Enter the alt text in the box.
STEP7. Furthermore, press the Share button to post.
Change alternative text of a post
STEP 1. Open the Instagram app on your smartphone.
STEP 2. Access the Instagram post whose alt text must be changed.
STEP 3. Now tap on the three-dot menu button available next to the photo or video.
STEP 4. Select the Edit option.
STEP5. Go to the Accessibility tab.
STEP6. Enter the alt text in the space provided.
STEP7. Furthermore, press the Done button to save the changes.
