India’s overall performance improves in Commonwealth Games: Anurag Thakur | News about the 2022 Commonwealth Games

SHIMLA: Minister of Sports & Youth Union Trade Union Anurag Thakur on Tuesday said the country’s overall performance had improved in The game of commonwealth and “we are moving towards a new India.”
Thakur said this while interacting with the volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra Saghthan (NYKS) and National Service Program (NSS) at Peterhoff here as part of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan’.
A youth conference and dialogue program was organized by NYKS, Department of Youth and Sports.
The Union Minister said that “India is doing well in the Commonwealth Games. We have done well in weightlifting for athletics and our overall performance has improved and India has done well. won 61 medals and we also dominate Kenya in the runs.”
He added, India is growing stronger and better.
India finished with 61 medals at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, five fewer than they had four years ago on the Gold Coast.
Thakur, who is also the Union’s Minister of Communications and Information, interacted openly with youth and learned each point of view from NYKS and NSS volunteers as well as members of different youth groups.
He also exchanged youth views on issues such as youth exchange program, Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat program, border area program for NYKS and NSS, women’s empowerment and awareness, development sustainability, skills development and career advice.
He said that in the future he will also try to organize such youth dialogue programs across the country so that young people’s views can reach the government.
Thakur called on volunteers from Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan and the National Service Scheme to conduct a door-to-door tricolor campaign and called on youth to celebrate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
He said India is celebrating 75 years of independence and the country is celebrating. He said that all people should come and fly the country’s flag on their homes from August 13 to 15.
Prior to his arrival, Union Minister Thakur received a warm welcome in Shimla.
