India sees slight rise in Covid infections; active cases decline to 4,767

India added 291 new coronavirus infections, bringing the total number of Covid cases to 446772638, according to Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday. The increase comes a day after the country reported 279 infections while recording 215 infections on Tuesday.

Domestic active cases continued to drop to 4,767. The death toll rose to 530,622 with two Kerala-adjusted deaths, data updated at 8am said.

Active cases account for 0.01% of total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate rose to 98.80%, according to the ministry’s website.

An 88 case reduction was recorded in the active COVID-19 case load over a 24-hour period.

The number of people who have recovered from the disease increased to 441,37,249, while the case fatality rate was 1.19%.

According to the ministry’s website, so far, 219.92 doses of the Covid vaccine have been used in the country under the nationwide vaccination campaign.

India’s total COVID-19 count crossed the 20 lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30,000 on August 23, 40,000 on September 5 and 500,000 on September 16. ten thousand on September 28, 700,000 on October 11, surpassing the mark of 80,000 on October 29, 900,000 on November 20 and surpassing the one-core mark on December 19.

The country passed the grim milestone of two cores on May 4, three cores on June 23 of last year and four cores on January 25 of this year.

The three deaths reported in a 24-hour period were one from Himachal Pradesh, Kerala and Maharashtra.
