IMD update: Intense rainfall will continue in these states for next 2 days. Full forecast here


The weather department added that currently spell of rain will most likely continue through North East India, West Bengal and sub-Himalayan Sikkim over the next 5 days.

IMD has forecasted heatwave conditions in isolated places over Jammu department on June 12 and over Punjab, Haryana-Delhi, East Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand on June 12 and 13.

Rainfall forecast

– Moderate rainfall with thunderstorm and lightning is most likely to occur over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit- Baltistan and Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and East Uttar Pradesh on 15 and 16 June.

– Scattered rainfall is also likely in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi on 15 and 16 June

– Moderate rain with thunderstorms/lightning possible over Coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe and Lakshadweep.

– Scattered rain is likely in Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana and Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal over the next 3 days and increase thereafter with scattered to fairly common rainfall in the region over the next 2 days.

– Most likely isolated heavy rainfall over Tamilnadu on 12th; via Kerala and Mahe on 12 and 16 June; via Coastal Karnataka on June 12 and 13 and via Telangana on June 12-14, 2022.

– Possibility of widespread rain with thunderstorms and lightning over Konkan and Goa and scattered thunderstorms with widespread thunderstorms in Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada over the next 5 days.

– Very heavy rainfall is likely to end Konkan and Goa for the next 3 days and isolated heavy rainfall over the Ghats of Madhya Maharashtra today

– Moderate rain possible over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura and West Bengal & Sikkim over the next 5 days.

– Very heavy rainfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya and sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim over next 5 days and heavy rainfall over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during 14-16 June.

– Extreme rainfall is also likely over Assam and Meghalaya during 12-16 June.

– Active rainfall is likely to increase in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal with fairly widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms/lightning/strong gusts between 14-16 June.

-There is a chance of scattered rain with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds over Madhya Pradesh and scattered rain over a large area in Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh over the next 5 days. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Western Madhya Pradesh on 12th and over Chhattisgarh on 15th & 16th June.

Advancement of the Southwest Monsoon

-Conditions are favorable for the monsoon to penetrate deeper into some northern Arabian seas, remaining parts of Konkan, parts of Gujarat state, most parts of Madhya Maharashtra, all of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, a parts of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Westcentral and northwest Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours.

– Conditions will continue to become favorable for the deepening of the monsoon into some other parts of the North Arabian Sea, Gujarat state, some parts of Marathwada, some other parts of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, most parts of Bay of Bengal, whole of Bengal and Sikkim Minor Himalayas, some parts of Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar for the next 3 days.
