Imd Issues Rainfall, Wind Warning In These States Till May 10 Due To Cyclone. Check Latest Weather Forecast
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that the low pressure is the South Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal. The low is likely to strengthen into a Depression on Saturday, May 7 over the Southeast Bay of Bengal. IMD Weather says the Crisis could soon turn into a cyclone on Sunday, May 8. It will then move northwest and west-central abutting the northwestern Bay of Bengal beyond the Bay of Bengal. off North Andhra Pradesh and Odisha on May 10.
IMD precipitation warning:
- May 7: Precipitation in most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall, most likely in isolated parts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands during May 7.
- May 10: Heavy rainfall is forecast in isolated areas on the Odisha coast.
- Telangana is likely to have light to moderate rain over the next 3-4 days with thunderstorms and lightning. Wind speeds of 30-40 km/h are forecast in some counties. After that, the temperature is likely to increase by 2-3 degrees Celsius, said Naga Ratna, director of the Meteorological Center.
IMD Wind Warning:
- May 7: Squared wind speeds of 45-55 km/h, gusts of up to 65 km/h are very likely to prevail over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the Andaman Sea and adjacent to the Southeast and East – Central Bay of Bengal.
- May 8: Squared wind speeds of 55-65 kmph, gusts to 75 kmph are likely to prevail in the Southeast & adjacent to the East-central Bay of Bengal and will gradually increase to speed gusts reaching 65-75 winds to 85 km/h over the same area from the evening of May 8. Squared wind speeds between 40-50 km/h and 60 km/h are likely to prevail over the Andaman Sea and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
- May 9: Wind gusts of 65-75 kmph and 85 km/h are likely to prevail over central areas of the Bay of Bengal.
- May 10: Wind gusts of 80-90 km/h, gusts of up to 100 km/h are likely to prevail over West-Central and North-West & East-Central Contiguous Bay of Bengal.
The weather agency IMD has warned that sea conditions for the next 3-4 days will remain stormy and advised fishermen not to venture to the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal until May 10.
IMD Heatwave Predictions:
- According to IMD’s forecast, heat wave likely to begin over northwest India on May 7 and over central India from May.
- Heatwave conditions are forecast over Rajasthan from May 7 to 9 and over southern Haryana, Delhi, southwestern Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, for May 8 and March 4, respectively. May 9.
Cyclone Odisha:
Meanwhile, disaster response teams and fire crews have been kept on standby for tornado warnings. Up to 17 NDRF teams, 20 ODRAF teams and 175 fire service teams have been put on high alert.
Superintendent of Fire Services SK Upadhaya said that all leave of the fire service staff have been cancelled.
