Via Dan Ambrose: WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney has no fear of being robbed next month when he faces unified champion George Kambosos Jr on June 4 at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.
Haney (27-0, 15 KOs) says he’ll do it so one-sidedly that it’s unlikely the umpires won’t award him the win if it comes to the scorecard.
However, it won’t be easy for Haney to get a decisive win over Australia’s Kambosos (20-0, 10 KOs) as a crowd of more than 50,000 fans will cheer every time he throws a punch.
Haney beat everyone
“Your hit against George Kambosos, who is now considered by people like me to be the lightweight champion of the world because he beat Teofimo Lopez, who beat Vasyl Lomachenko. You think you also have requirements for the lightweight title,” said Max Kellerman ESPN show.
“We know that whether you like it or now, I’m still the WBC lightweight champion,” Haney said. “I’m in the middle of defending my fifth title, and I’ve beaten everyone they put in front of me.
“It’s true. The track record shows that Loma petitioned [to get out of his mandatory]. That’s reality. Like it or not, that’s the reality,” Haney continued.
“In the old days, the candidate would be dropped from the title,” says Kellerman.
“It’s true. He was stripped of the title, and that’s how Devin Haney got the WBC belt,” Haney said. “I’ve defended it and fought for it ever since.”
“You are a true warrior. You know what people say and what they think,” Kellerman said. “What does it mean to you? Obviously, you crave it because you’re willing to go to his backyard.
“You’re willing to go to Australia to play an undefeated champion to get that recognition.”
“I didn’t just sign up for a fight. I signed up for two matches, so that’s what I believe in for my talent,” Haney said of the two-match deal with Kambosos.
“I trust my skill and I know that if I can beat him once, I can beat him twice in his own home on his land, and that is it. what I would do,” Haney said of her intention to beat the Australian Kambosos in front of her own fans.
Devin doesn’t worry about being robbed
“You don’t worry that if this goes this far, he’s a very good fighter, and it’s a tough close fight, and you believe you’ve won seven rounds to five rounds, the same thing in such a tough close battle that it would be difficult for you to make a decision? “Kellerman said.
“I didn’t think the war would end like that, honest. I feel on a whole different level,” says Haney. “My skill set is just different. We are not looking for a close fight”.
It could be a very close fight, in which case it could make it difficult for Haney to decide. You have to believe that if the rounds are close, the referee will mostly give the host Kambosso.
“We are prepared for whatever he brings to the table. I just feel that my skills are on a completely different level. So I’m not really worried about that,” Haney said of how he doesn’t worry about being robbed.
“In the boxing world, they’re saying, ‘Is Haney having trouble doing 135? Does he need to move up? Is that one of the reasons he’s been shivering in recent games? ‘ Can you address? Kellerman said.

Kambosos-Haney winner will be #1

It is difficult to say that the winner of the fight between Kambosos and Haney will be the No. 1 boxer in lightweight. To prove that the winner is number 1, they still need to beat Gervonta Davis, Ryan Garcia and Vasyl Lomachenko.
What you can say is that the winner of the Kambosos-Haney fight will be the all-belt fighter, which is undeniable.
Whether the average boxing fan chooses to recognize the winner as number 1 in the 135 lb class will be up to them.
“You win the match, and you win the rematch. Are you awarding titles? ” Kellerman said. “Lomachenko, Shakur Stevenson if he comes forward, Tank Davis, [Ryan] Garcia. You have some of the biggest names in boxing. Are you fighting with all those people? ”
“One by one, I will take them down,” Haney said. “Like I said, I’m a true champion, and I’m ready to fight the best and show the world that I’m the best. You line them up; I’ll take them down one by one,” Haney said.
If Lomachenko returns soon from the war in his country, he will be a very uncomfortable opponent for Haney.
Shakur Stevenson probably won’t move into lightweight until next year. By then, Haney probably won’t be fighting at 135 anymore.
The actual battles for Haney will be against Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis. Those guys aren’t going anywhere for the foreseeable future, and there will be plenty of interest from fans to see either of them take on Haney.
