Gunman in Paris opened fire, killing at least 2 people
Two people were killed and a man was arrested Friday after a shooting in central Paris, according to the city’s prosecutor’s office.
The prosecutor’s office said four other people were injured in the shooting, two of them seriously. The shooting happened around noon on Rue d’Enghien, a narrow street in the 10th arrondissement of the French capital.
The prosecutor’s office said the man arrested is 69 years old. The office said his identity was still being verified, adding that it had opened a murder investigation.
The Paris district police advised people to avoid the area, citing an ongoing operation.
Emmanuel Grégoire, deputy mayor of Paris, say on Twitter that a “gun attack” had occurred but did not elaborate. “We are talking with the provincial police and the prosecutor’s office to understand what happened,” Grégoire posted.
