GT vs PBKS: I’ve never seen a six as big as that – Kevin Pietersen marvels at Livingstone’s monster hit
The Punjab Kings untangled in the Indian Premier League on Tuesday, May 3 after beating the Gujarat Titans by a big score of eight goals. The Kings, having been put on the frontcourt, did well with the ball, limiting Gujarat to 143 runs lower than target for the first time, due to Kagiso Rabada’s four shuttlecocks.
Returning to chase in the game’s second inning, Punjab’s Shikhar Dhawan took his own sweet time building up the innings. While it looked like Punjab was certain to win after Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s 40 quick runs, life was brought to life after injecting Liam Livingstone in the middle.
The British, while facing Mohammad Shami in the 16th minute of the match, decided that was enough, and Punjab needed to finish the match quickly. He beat Mohammad Shami in the tournament’s biggest six balls in the first ball, going into the 117-meter boundary. British colleague Kevin Pietersen, who was on the comment board at the time, was astounded by the shot and said he had never seen a six as big as that one.
Liam Livingstone went on to do 28 runs against that Shami, hitting him for two more innings of six and then picking two boundaries away from him. Quick innings of 30* with 10 balls brought Punjab over the line and helped them increase their run rate on the net greatly. The win moved Punjab to 5th place on the scoreboard, with 10 points from 10 games.
Here’s how Livingstone’s 117 million six wowed Twitter –

The Punjab Kings will now hope to continue to maintain their momentum and win their remaining four matches. If they can do that, Mayank Agarwal will have 18 points, and will become the main candidate to reach the knockout round.
