Google Chrome for desktop refreshes browser customization with new colors, themes
Google has begun rolling out new personalization features to the Chrome Web browser on the desktop. The browser, estimated to be used by more than 2.65 billion people from around the world, will now allow community members to experiment with more themes and colors. To suggest customization options to the user’s liking, Chrome will track previous selections and display options accordingly. For now, these new customization options only reach Chrome users on the desktop.
New side panel on Chrome browser the browser is being loaded with multiple color gradients, which can change the overall look and feel of the browser according to the user’s preference.
“You can experiment with different colors, themes and settings in real time by opening a new tab in Chrome and clicking the ‘Customize Chrome’ icon in the bottom right corner. A new side panel will open with available customization features. Here you can experiment with different features and easily see how they will appear on your New Card page as you make changes. Our new side panel remembers your custom edits as you make them,” official blog post read by Google.
The range of wallpaper options currently available for the Chrome browser has also been expanded with newer options.
Along with ‘Landscapes’ and ‘Seascapes’, Chrome users will have other categories organized by location and artists’ heritage.
Native American Artists, LGBTQ Artists, Latino Artists Collection, and Black Artists Collection are among the new categories showing wallpaper options to Chrome users.
Photos that have been clicked on or inspired by many artists and communities are also in preparation for inclusion in Chrome’s custom settings in the coming days.
Google shared a glimpse of what Chrome users might want to look for on Twitter, making the announcement official.
“If you have trouble selecting just one image, you can enjoy a rotating background by clicking on any of the theme gallery and enabling the ‘Refresh Daily’ toggle. Or, if you use Profiles to separate your work and personal accounts, try giving each Profile a distinct background and color to differentiate between them,” the blog further notes.
The search engine giant has loaded up its Chrome browser with newer features to bring a more personalized experience to users around the world.
For example, in March of this year, Google update Chrome for Android users have a new feature for the New Tab page that allows users to quickly navigate to past search queries.
Google is also Report work on allows Android users to clear their browsing history for the last 15 minutes.
In addition, Google Chrome is also working to introduce a mouse input keyboard shortcut allows users to close tabs by double clicking.
