Gervonta Davis prevents Rolly Romero from predicting Teddy Atlas
Via Huck Allen: Teddy Atlas believes the slight experience advantage Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis will carry will carry him to victory tonight over powerhouse Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero (14-0, 12 KOs) at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Atlas feels that more questions have been raised for the 27-year-old Tank (26-0.24 KOs) during his nine-year professional career compared to kt Rolly, who has been underrated. with enough solid boxers to give him experience.
As far as Atlas knows, Rolly had only fought a solid fighter at Jackson Marinez and he felt he deserved to lose in their competition in August 2020.
The judges gave Rolly a tight decision in round 12, leaning in his favor due to the much harder shots he landed during the competition. It’s easy to see why the judges chose Rolly. His strength was on another level compared to Marinez, and he was at the top of the attack for the entire fight.
Atlas makes no mention of the Chariot’s dubious victory Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz Last December, it was a much more controversial result than kt Rolly’s win over Marinez.
A lot of fans felt Tank deserved to lose that fight, this writer includes, but he won against Pitbull.
“Romero knows how to box a little bit. With 140 amateur fights, you should know how to box better,” said Teddy Atlas The struggle. “But this is why I put my money on Gervonta Davis. Experience.
“Tank fought real people, and for me, Rolly fought only one real person [Jackson Marinez] and he lost.
Tank Davis’ best wins:
- Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz
- Mario Barios
- Leo Santa Cruz
- Jose Pedraza
- Yuriorkis Gamboa
- Hugo Ruiz
“Perhaps he would have improved from that loss if he had been honest with himself and those around him as the right kind of mentor and young talent developer. Maybe he has because those are the fighting types that improve you
Atlas continued: “The Davis tank has a big advantage in terms of the quality of the fighters he has fought with. “I don’t care how many fighters you knock down, and how many wins you have. I’m interested in who they’re up against.
kt Rolly Romero’s best wins:
- Anthony Yigit
- Jackson Marinez
- Avery Sparrow
- Arturs Ahmetovs
“Davis ‘against the better [than Rolly]. What does it mean? That means Davis had the questions asked and answered as these wars played out with the kind of opposite quality that could have taught him that.
“I am saying that Romero does not have the answers to all those questions. He’s had more questions than answers in his career, Romero, and that’s the main reason why I chose Davis.
“Yes, talent and everything I described, but Davis has been there with better people and he knows he belongs. He has the answers to the questions all boxers have.
“He knows he belongs, he knows he can depend on himself, and I don’t think Romero fully knows that. He can learn in this fight, but he doesn’t yet know where to join,” Atlas said.
