George Springer had to leave the field due to injury during Blue Jays playoff against Mariners

Blue jay Midfielder George Springer was ejected in the eighth inning of Toronto Wild card game playoff against the Seattle Mariners.

Springer was injured while tracking a potential balloon from the Mariners’ JP Crawford short.

The Blue Jays midfielder ran forward from the midfield to try to catch up with the play as Toronto short Bo Bichette ran towards him.

As Springer lunged forward, it appeared he had clamped Bichette and then hit his head hard into the surface of the Rogers Center court.

Crawford’s hit landed for a brace to destroy the bases and tie the game 9-9.

Both Bichette and Springer lay on their stomachs in pain as the crowd fell silent.

Bichette finally got to her feet but Springer, visibly shaken, stayed.

The Blue Jays coaching staff had to help Springer to his feet and he was loaded onto a stroller to be carried to the field.
