Springer was injured while tracking a potential balloon from the Mariners’ JP Crawford short.
The Blue Jays midfielder ran forward from the midfield to try to catch up with the play as Toronto short Bo Bichette ran towards him.
As Springer lunged forward, it appeared he had clamped Bichette and then hit his head hard into the surface of the Rogers Center court.
Crawford’s hit landed for a brace to destroy the bases and tie the game 9-9.
Both Bichette and Springer lay on their stomachs in pain as the crowd fell silent.
Bichette finally got to her feet but Springer, visibly shaken, stayed.
