Ford website shares 5,000 car pictures, brochures from its history
One of the interesting things about my university (McPherson College), has an auto restoration program, in fact it has a section in a library filled with vintage car magazines and brochures. It’s a blast through all the old photos and advertisement material. But obviously, that’s not something easily accessible to most people. That’s why Ford’s The latest site is very interesting. It’s the Ford Heritage Vault (https://fordheritagevault.com), and it’s a huge repository Classic Ford photos and promotional materials.
The vault covers Ford from 1903 to 2003, and it includes 5,000 pieces of media. They include everything from individual cars to factory accessories. All sections have been scanned in high resolution and it even has accessibility data so screen readers can share information in brochures. All are searchable and better yet all are free.
The vault is also unfinished. Ford says that they will continue to add materials for more displays. And we would imagine that part of the expansion will include years before 2003. We’re certainly excited to dig into it, although the site appears to be down for now. We’re sure it will be fixed soon and it will be great.
