The central government employees who are considering to buy pre-made computers, there is news for them. The central government has fixed interest rates on computer advances for the financial year 2022-23. According to an office memorandum issued by the Postal Service, Establishment Department under the Ministry of Communications, the interest rate on prepayment of computers for fiscal year 23 is fixed at 9.80 a year.
The Postal ServiceThe Bureau established under the Ministry of Communications has issued an office memorandum on this matter stating that “The undersigned is directed to specify that the rate of advance interest sanctioned for Government organizations that buy computers during 2022-23 ie from April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023 are as follows: Advance payment for computers, annual interest rate is 9.80 percent.”
For more information, the central government has also made an amendment in the computer application rules. Now, a central government employee can buy an iPad using this computer advance at 9.80% annual interest. The Department of Expenditure under the Ministry of Finance has issued a memorandum of understanding in this regard.
While giving a clear explanation of whether the iPad is defined as a personal computer for the purpose of computer improvement, the Department replied: “The requests have been reviewed within this Department and it has been determined that An official can also buy and iPad by advanced computer.”
In October 2016, the department revised the rules allowing central government employees to advance PC 50,000 or the actual price of the PC, whichever is lower.
