For $125, find your classic Porsche factory specs

For anyone restoring an old Porsche, wanting it to be as original as possible, Porsche has a solution.

A new online service makes it easy to determine when your car was manufactured, how it was initially specified, and where it was first delivered. All that is needed is a VIN and $125.

At Porsche’s Recently Launched Porsche Documentary website, owners can now order Porsche Production Specifications, a document detailing the history of a specified vehicle, even when decades have passed. Porsche has a huge collection of historical documents, although they were not previously available through an online portal like the Porsche Vehicle Documentation page.

For $500, owners can order a Porsche Classic Technical Certificate. This option includes an inspection of the vehicle by a technical specialist at a Porsche dealer. This way the owner will be able to determine if the original parts have been replaced. This is especially important for those who want the right gear for the engine and transmission.

The inspection covers the exterior, interior, powertrain, underbody and suspension, and includes photographs compiled with relevant information in a detailed summary. Such a document can be essential to ensure the maximum value of a vehicle at the time of resale.

Owners of new Porsches don’t have to miss out on the fun either. Anyone who owns a 2019 Porsche or later can get the original window sticker for free via MyPorsche.
