Florida lawmakers passed a bill on Thursday that would revoke Walt Disney Co’s DIS.N self-regulatory status in a move widely seen as the company’s opposition to the new state law Limit discussion of LGBTQ issues in schools.
The bill is now moved to the desk of Governor Ron DeSantis, who is guaranteed to sign it. The Republican-led House of Representatives’ 70-to-38 vote to eliminate the special tax zone would allow Disney to self-manage the roughly 25,000-acre Orlando area, where its Disney World theme park complex is located. comes a day after the state Senate passed the measure.
