Florida man charged with battery crime (Video)
Kevin Troy Williamson is behind bars after he was arrested Friday for assaulting a black woman Rayme McCoy. Kevin was caught on a viral video calling Rayme racial slurs and assaulting her multiple times after she asked him to back up to a gas station in Jacksonville, FL last week.
Rayme spoke to News 4 Jax explained that she walked into the BP near her house and was followed by Kevin. He was involved in an argument with someone outside the gas station. Raymen said the man was “furious and frenzied” and used racist language at some point. Things escalated as he walked towards the counter where she was standing. When she asked him to back up, that’s when she claimed he told her he had a gun in his car.
“So at the time, I felt threatened,” Rayme said. “He put his beer on the counter in front of my stuff and I slid them over and at that point, that’s when he started punching me in the face.”
News 4 Jax reports Kevin appeared in court today where he was charged with misdemeanor. His bond was set at $20,000 on the condition that he did not return to the BP Gas Station where the incident occurred. In addition, he must not have any contact with the victim or the witnesses.
The State Attorney’s Office has apologized for Kevin’s delayed arrest. Attorney Randy Reep, who was not involved in the case, said, “
Sometimes in law I can do it fast, or I can do it right. But sometimes I can’t do both.” He added, “I’m not sorry for the lost four days, but I’ll tell you, it’s not outrageous in my experience.” At this point, Kevin has not been charged with hate. However, it is up to the State Attorney to make that determination. Attorney Reep said they will interview witnesses and in two to three weeks the State Attorney will decide on the final charges.
