Fifth case of monkeypox reported in Delhi
Delhi has reported its fifth case of monkeypox. Speaking to IANS, Suresh Kumar, MD, Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital, said the woman tested positive for the virus on Friday after being hospitalized with symptoms of monkeypox.
He said the woman is currently being monitored in the hospital.
‘Delhi confirmed its first case of monkeypox on 24 July, while the country’s first case was reported on 14 July in Kerala’s Kollam district.’
Of the five cases in the national capital, one patient was discharged after recovering, while the other four continued to be treated at the hospital.
Monkey pox in Delhi
In the face of positive cases, the Delhi government has directed three private hospitals to create at least 10 isolation rooms each to manage smallpox cases in monkeys.
