Fantastic Four Movie Gets New Screenwriter at Marvel Studios – The Hollywood Reporter
Marvel’s First Family is being rewritten. Josh Friedman, who worked on Avatar: The Road of Water and develop Skiers as a TNT TV series, was tapped to write a screenplay for Marvel Studios’ Fantastic four.
Matt Shakman, the main director of the Marvel series WandaVisionwill lead the feature, which has a November 8, 2024 release date and is set to launch “Phase 6” in its narrative universe.
The Fantastic Four were the team of heroes that introduced readers and the world at large to Marvel Comics and ushered in the Marvel Era, as the self-made hype machine described it in the 1960s.
Written by editor Stan Lee and drawn by Jack Kirby, Fantastic four Number 1 gave birth to Reed Richards, a scientist dedicated to his work and unafraid to push the boundaries of science; Sue Storm, his girlfriend turned wife; Johnny Storm, Sue’s hot-tempered and hotrod-loving brother; and Ben Grimm, Richards’ burly best friend. After illegally flying into space and being exposed to cosmic rays, they in turn became the hero Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and The Thing.
Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer were the project’s former screenwriters, and the hiring of Friedman signaled a potential shift in tone. Kaplan and Springer are new scribes known for their comedy scripts. Among the works they are developing is the comedy Rebel Wilson K-Pop: Lost in America And wedding disasterincluding palm stream Directed by filmmaker Max Barbakow.
Friedman, on the other hand, is a veteran of the sci-fi genre. He co-wrote War of the WorldsSteven Spielberg-Tom Cruise’s update on the HG Wells classic, then serves as writer and author of Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, the TV series The Terminator serves as his first foray into the world of James Cameron. Many years later, he will return to work in 2019 Terminator: Dark Fate and is one of the writers Cameron has helped with world-building and story-telling for many of his films. Avatar Franchising.
The scribe is also the program’s co-creator Establish, Apple’s ambitious series of stories by Isaac Asimov; The second season will premiere later this year. And he adapted it for the small screen SkiersTNT took over Bong Joon-Ho’s sci-fi series, despite leaving the show due to creative differences.
