Fantasia’s Sigma Gamma Rho Soror Backs Decision: ‘We Push Each Other’
The “Truth Is” singer announced her decision in an Instagram Live, which was screen-recorded by a fan and uploaded to YouTube.
She’ll also be sure to thank her friend Yvonne—a member of Sigma Gamma Rho, Fantasia, who was honored to be introduced late last year. When both women were back in school, she noted that they “motivated each other”. We love seeing sisterhood in action!
“I went back to school. Shout out to my mate, Yvonne. She went back to school, I went back to school. We motivate each other—motivate each other.”
She also noted, “I’m proud of me. Sometimes we have to pat ourselves on the back.
She hasn’t shared any other details about her decision to go back to school, though one thing is for sure: Fantasia is here to make the moves!
Notably, she got her fans involved in her mission with a recent Twitter post, which read: “The current chapter of my life is called: MY TURN and I don’t regret it. fault about that!!”

Fantasia earned her GED in 2009 after dropping out at the age of 14
The R&B artist’s decision to attend college is the latest step in her academic journey, which has not been the easiest.
After being raped by a popular student, Fantasia dropped out of High Point High School, North Carolina in 9th grade. Three years later, she welcomed a daughter with her then-partner, who mistreat her.
However, in the end, Fantasia was given a platform to shine American Idol, and her music career took off. However, she still prioritized earning her GED, which she received in 2009, as noted by Black Star Atlanta.
Now, the 38-year-old is pursuing new goals.
