Elon Musk to Gadgets 360: “Some major UI updates coming in January”
Elon Musk recently responded to several Twitter users who tagged him and is known to have engaged in conversations on the platform he currently owns. During a recent conversation about improving the Twitter user interface, Musk responded to a suggestion from a Gadgets 360 employee and also said “some big UI improvements” are coming in January. . As the current CEO of Twitter, Musk has made sweeping changes to the service and has also introduced minor tweaks, some of which appear to be experimental. Most recently, Twitter started showing view and engagement statistics for each tweet to demonstrate that even though not many people actively comment or like tweets, they are still read.
On Friday afternoon, musk run a Twitter poll asking users whether view will be displayed on the left or right side of the tweet UI. New statistics are now displayed on the left, taking precedence over the Reply, Message Forward, and Like metrics. At the end of the voting period, 54.3% of users voted to move it to the right, while 45.7% seemed satisfied with the current position. The poll generated several discussion threads about other user interface tweaks Twitter might want to consider.

Pranav Hegde, employee of Gadgets 360, responded to Musk pointing out that space is wasted by text labels for Views, Likes, Retweets, and Quote Tweets below each tweet on the mobile UI service dynamics and suggests that using icons instead might allow them all to fit on a single line.
Musk responded affirmatively, indicating that Twitter had thought of that or would make this change at his suggestion. Other users engaged in this thread made additional suggestions about the use of screen space, while others pointed out UI errors and others made jokes about running habits Musk’s polls and impulsive changes.
