Elon Musk becomes the most followed Twitter user, surpassing Barack Obama, Justin Bieber

Twitter CEO, Elon Musk, has amassed the most followers on the platform. The 51-year-old tycoon has more than 133 million users, surpassing former US President Barack Obama, who has held this record since 2020.

The move comes as the company is moving towards a model where only people Paid subscriptions and members of new approved organizations have a verified stamp for their accounts.

Twitter accounts are now verified in three colors – Yellow for corporate, gray for government, blue for individuals (celebrity or not). All verified accounts will be manually validated before the check is activated.

The blue verification mark is now a feature of Twitter Blue subscriptions. In India, subscription is available for a monthly fee of $650 on the web and $900 on mobile devices.
