CLARE CO., MICH. (WNEM) – A dog that was stranded on an island in Clare County for weeks has been rescued.

Zaria, a 2 year old dane girl, runs away from her master and ends up with in the middle of Cranberry Lake in August.

On Wednesday, September 21, animal control officer Bob Dodson said Zaria was rescued.

Clare County Animal Control advises the community to stay away and off the island.

Animal control officers tried to use drones to track her down, but she went missing.

Animal Control initially wanted to do a volunteer search on the island, but it was turned down as officials make progress with a trap.

Rescuers gave up food and water to help her gain weight. Animal control used the fly-by-pass method to gain her trust and, ultimately, safer than reassure her.

The trap and trail camera were later removed by rescuers. Zaria surrendered to Clare County Animal Control.

Clare County Animal Control worked with Moore’s missing K9 Search & Recovery Division.
