The Cupertino giants have launched iPhone 14″ Pro series with the first 48MP camera last month. This new camera can help users take beautiful photos with the latest iPhone 14 Pro series smartphones. Here are some photography tips and tricks shared by the company.
Diwali photography tips for iPhone 14 Pro users
The main camera on the newly launched iPhone 14 and 14 Pro series smartphones allows users to take 48MP photos in ProRAW and includes 2x telephoto providing a total of four zoom options. The new Photonic engine helps with low-light performance, and the Cinematic mode now records 4K video at 24fps. Meanwhile, Action mode now captures more stable video in Dolby Vision HDR.
The 48MP main camera sensor on the iPhone 14 Pro models is 65% larger than the sensor on the iPhone 13 Pro. The new sensor is built with Apple’s second-generation sensor-shifting OIS, helping to create stunning photos and videos. Image quality performance has also been increased to deliver a more efficient design capable of supporting an even larger sensor, which could be ideal for festival photography.
The Ultra Wide camera now has 100% Focus Pixels and a new sensor that’s almost twice the size of the iPhone 13 Pro. This improves image quality and increases low-light performance. Together with Photonic Engine, it delivers 3x better low-light photos and amazing Macro photos.
The iPhone 14 Pro also supports an additional 2x telephoto lens for photos and videos at 48mm using the 12MP in the middle of the new quad-core sensor. This focal length is also great for Portrait mode, which now supports foreground blur for better photos. This telephoto uses main camera features like – 1.22μm pixels, fast ƒ/1.78 aperture, second-generation sensor-shift OIS and 100% Focus Pixels. The telephoto camera also allows 3x zoom with a focal length of 77mm.
The TrueDepth front camera on iPhone 14 Pro models can focus from multiple distances, keeping group photos in focus regardless of distance. The camera features a faster f/1.9 aperture for 38% low-light boost for photos and videos, and with TrueDepth capabilities, it can focus even faster in low light.
For video, cinema mode offers beautiful depth of field effects for users to capture cinematic-style moments. It supports 4K resolution up to 30fps, ideal for capturing family or group celebration videos.
Action mode provides smooth and steady videos and can be activated with a toggle in video mode. It uses overscan enhancement and advanced roll correction to help keep the horizon level despite significant movement and shake. This mode supports resolutions up to 2.8K and 60 fps and can be combined with Dolby Vision or ProRes recording. Action mode even provides smooth video even without extra gears like gimbal.
Tips from a professional photographer
AFP photographer Chandan Khanna recommends using different lenses for different subjects. To photograph sweets, use a wide camera with a Macro lens. Users can also create sharp low-depth portraits in low light with the help of decorative lights to create colorful effects for photos. While the zoom lens is for photographing cannons from a distance.
