Detroit residents react to April snowfall
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WXYZ) – On Monday, April in D feels like December in D. From Ann Arbor to Highland Park to Waterford, it snows continuously.
Sierra Harbin of Ortonville said: “It’s beautiful, but I’m ready to warm it up and get it done.
For most Detroit subways, only a few inches are stuck to the ground. But that doesn’t stop the teens from having high hopes.
“When you look outside and see this weather, what’s going through your mind?” 7 Action News reporter Brett Kast asked.
“Snowy day,” said student John Edwards. “I’m looking forward to a snowy day.”
But because it snows on the evening commute, most wet roads are warm enough to do so.
Driver Nikki Goolsby from Lake Orion said: “They’re fine, just a little sloppy, so they’re obvious.”
That’s good news for motorists, but not good news for John and that potential snow day.
Although the day after Easter is the same as the day after Christmas, there is hope for warm weather ahead. Monday serves as a reminder that in Michigan, spring can be like winter and summer in the same week.
“Merry Christmas. Ho, ho, ho,” said driver Jennifer Caddick. “It’s Michigan.”
“By the end of next week it will be 70 degrees,” Harbin said. But right now, we have to get past the typical Michigan.”
