Debris cleanup efforts are underway
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The City of Wichita Park Forestry Team is currently focusing on clearing up impending hazards and broken and hanging limbs in the affected area. They will also work on property damage.
Teams will temporarily leave debris on the street in a dedicated right-of-way to focus on threats to public safety, but teams will return to collect debris as efforts cleaning force continues.
“Our team has been working to clear the streets since Friday night’s storm. We will continue to work to clear the debris and keep everyone safe. We ask for patience while our efforts are spread throughout the city,” said Gary Farris, City Arborist.
City teams will not collect debris from private property and say anyone who needs assistance removing private debris should contact a local tree service provider. Public Works teams are also available to further assist neighboring communities with their storm response needs.
