Counter-Strike 2 is real and coming this summer


Valve has revealed Counter-Strike 2 and it will be released this summer.

An official release date hasn’t been revealed, but Valve says Counter-Strike 2 will be a free upgrade for anyone who owns Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Also, if you own Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, you can participate in a limited trial for Counter-Strike 2 starting today. During this testing phase, Valve said it will “evaluate a subset of features to eliminate any issues prior to worldwide release.”

The company also said, “Counter-Strike 2 is the biggest technical leap in Counter-Strike’s history, ensuring new features and updates for years to come.”

Along with today’s reveal, Valve released three gameplay videos for Counter-Strike 2. You can check out all three below:

Counter-Strike 2 will run in the Source 2 engine, which has rendering tools and features “available to community map creators to make it easier to build, test, and iterate.” There will also be Source Item Workshop 2, and it will be available later during Counter-Strike 2 limited testing.
