Children with autism hit by train in southwest Atlanta
Atlanta, Ga. (CBS46) – An investigation is underway after a child with autism was hit by a train Thursday night.
Emergency teams responded to Melvin Drive SW. east of Kimberly Street.
“The child is awake, conscious and breathing. The child suffered non-life-threatening injuries and lacerations to the arm and back of the head,” officials confirmed to CBS46 News.
The child was taken to Grady Hospital.
CSX officials released a statement saying, “CSX appreciates the swift response of Atlanta police and is cooperating with them as they investigate an incident that occurred around 9 p.m. at a railroad intersection on Melvin Dr. SW, just east of the intersection with Kimberly Rd. SW. “
