According to reports from Italy, Chelsea are ready to compete with Manchester United for the signing of Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries this summer.
Both clubs are in need of a right-back, with the Blues looking to back Reece James while the Reds are looking for a first-choice option, and it appears both of these pairings have been attracted. by the Dutch player.
Dumfries had only been at the San Siro for one season, when the impressive Euro2020 convinced them to bring him to the club to replace Achraf Hakimi. His shares, however, continued to rise steadily, as the 26-year-old scored five goals and five assists in 33 Serie A appearances in his first campaign.

Goal.com reports, Inter Milan, who are looking to bring Romelu Lukaku on loan, but are not willing to give Dumfries in exchange for the Belgian striker despite Chelsea’s efforts.
They claimed: ‘The Blues are trying to take advantage of the situation to hunt down one of Inter’s defenders’.
“But the Serie A club don’t want to bring in any Milan Skriniar, Stefan de Vrij, Alessandro Bastoni or Denzel Dumfries.”
£21 million bid has been contested
Now, follow Gazetta dello SportChelsea and Manchester United have both been quoted around €40m to reward the player leaving Inter, with the Italian side needing to rake in a profit of around €60m this summer and want to do so by reducing as much as possible. The fewer players the better.
Currently, however, only Chelsea have made an offer and that is only €25m (£21m). Far below the Serie A side’s valuation. Whether a compromise has been reached or whether Manchester United make an inroads is expected to become clear in the coming days.
