Industrialist Gautam Adani on Wednesday said the growth of his business empire could not have been linked to any political leader, denying accusations of benefiting from his ties to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the Adani Group’s journey began more than three decades ago when Rajiv Gandhi of Parliament was Prime Minister.
“Prime Minister Modi and I come from the same state. That makes me easy to be the target of such baseless accusations… Unfortunately such stories are being turned against me.” , he said in an interview. an interview with India today.
“These accusations are biased lately, looking at our team’s success through a short-term lens. The fact of the matter is that my professional success is not led by any single individual. but rather because of policy and institutional reforms initiated by a number of leaders and governments over a period of more than three decades,” said Mr. Adani.
“Many will be surprised to learn that it all started during Rajiv Gandhi’s tenure as Prime Minister, when he first liberalized the Exim (import-export) policy… But for Rajiv Gandhi , my journey as an entrepreneur never goes off,” he said.
“The second big push I received was in 1991 when the duo Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh initiated sweeping economic reforms. Like many entrepreneurs, I was also a beneficiary of the reforms. that way,” he said.
The business magnate attributes his “third turning point” to the BJP’s 1995 election of Keshubhai Patel as Chief Minister of Gujarat, and his focus on coastal development led to his building its first port was in Mundra.
“The fourth turning point was in 2001 when Gujarat saw a great focus on development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His policies and their implementation did not only change the economic landscape of the state. .. but also allows industries and jobs to continue like never before,” said Mr. Adani.
“Today, under his brilliant leadership, we are seeing a similar resurgence at the national and international level, where a new India is now asserting itself,” he added.
Mr Adani also said he was “inspired” by Reliance Industries founder Dhirubhai Ambani.
“Dhirubhai Ambani is an inspiration to millions of rising entrepreneurs in India. He showed how a humble man without any support or resources and in spite of all difficulties could not only succeed. what it’s like to build a world-class business group but also leave a legacy. As a first generation entrepreneur and with humble beginnings, I was deeply inspired by him,” he said. .
Giving insight into his management style, he said: “All of our businesses are run by professional, competent CEOs. I don’t interfere with the day-to-day operations of the company. surname.”
“My role is limited to formulating strategies, allocating capital and evaluating them.
