Canadian banks will remain open on Monday after Feds announce holiday to mark queen’s death – National

The Canadian Bankers Association said the country’s banks would hold a moment of silence on Monday in memory of Queen Elizabeth II, but they would remain open for business as usual.

The association said banks are committed to providing essential services that Canadians trust.

It encourages customers to contact their bank for more information on business hours and services.

The decision comes after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that Monday would be a day off for federal government employees to mourn the monarch.

BC, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador are also following suit, closing government offices and schools, while Manitoba will close all non-essential government services and offices government, but keep schools open.
