Caleb Factory Wants Canelo Rematch After Cleaning 168-lb . Division

Via Robert Segal: Former WBO super middleweight champion Caleb Plant said his goal is to rematch Canelo Alvarez after he beat Anthony Dirrell and wiped out the 168-lb.

Plant (21-1, 12 KOs) says he’ll try to set up a fight with David Benavidez next, but if he’s “acting silly” he’ll immediately go ahead and negotiate a match against Jermall Charlo.

Those are the two guys Plant wants and needs to put him in a strong position for a rematch with Canelo.

The third 168-year-old Plant should fight to help win a rematch with Mexican star Demetrius Andrade, who just gained weight after missing his 160-lb WBO title.

Plant, 30, will be fired for 10 months and lost to Canelo in the eleventh round last November when he faced former two-time WBC 168-lb champion Dirrell (34-2-2.25 KOs). ) during the card-on-card match of Deontay Wilder and Robert Helenius on FOX Sports PPV at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Dirrell possesses the kind of power that can cause a lot of problems for Plant if he releases his gas like he did against Canelo and Jose Uzcategui. If Plant goes against Dirrell, he can be knocked out. Dirrell has too much power for Plant to resist him.

“At that level and everything that comes with it,” said Caleb Plant above Brian Custer’s website. “I feel that I was well prepared, but now that I’ve gotten through it, I’ll be able to bring that experience into these bigger battles.

“There are some things I would do differently, but I will keep those things to myself. I’ll settle the split and then have a rematch [with Canelo]. In the rematch, you’ll be able to find out and see what’s going on.

“People can say what they want, but in most of my fights and in my fight with Canelo, I threw more punches and knocked more punches than most of my opponents.

“If they are supposed to throw more punches than I do, why are they standing around and looking at me? If I didn’t hit hard enough, why didn’t they pass it?

“During the battle with Canelo, I did very well; I did well. I was caught with a shot. That happens in big time boxing. When two great boxers face off against each other, one of them will be eliminated.

“This time it was me. I’ve gained that experience and I can take it with me to advance to these other big battles. I’m just much more seasoned.

“With the type of fighting against Canelo and doing as well as I did, I want a big fight back,” Plant said when asked why he chose 37-year-old Dirrell to fight his way back after losing to Canelo. .

“I may have been anonymous and wet feet, but I want to continue this momentum and have the biggest name I can and the biggest fight I can. This is what I can get, and so here we are.

Plant said of Dirrell: “He’s not going to make it to the Hall of Fame and he hasn’t had a single successful title defense. “He wants to act like this is not something I have seen before. I’m going to play against Canelo, and I gave a great performance.

“Jose Uzcategui will take him down. Rogelio Medina must have given him a barbecue. It’s not something I’ve never seen before.

“He can say what he wants to say and act the way he wants to act, but the bell will still ring on October 15, and we will find out.

“I have no bad blood with him. He’s just another guy in my way, I think. I don’t know what he was talking about, ‘I’ve always had trouble walking.’

“You show me which boxer doesn’t think he’s good or thinks he’s a jerk. I’m sure he thinks he’s nice and thinks he’s a jerk, but when I think back on it, it’s different. Why? Why am I not okay thinking that I am good and that I am a man?

“That makes no sense to me. And other things like, ‘I hate him.’ I don’t know what his deal is. It is for him to carry and live with. He was just another guy standing in my way when I got back to the top of the division. On October 15, I will teach him a lesson.

“Now Breadman is with me. We have great chemistry. We’ve known each other for a long time. He is a great coach and knows a lot of things. He and my father get along very well.

“The camp went great. This is the best camp I’ve had. You will see the best Caleb Plant you have ever seen. On October 15, you tune in and get pay-per-view, and you’ll witness the new and improved Caleb Factory first-hand.

“After Dirrell, I plan to fight as big as I can in the super-middleweight division. If it’s with David Benavidez, that’s the fight I want to make,” Plant said when asked if his next fight will be against David Benavidez.

“If he’s acting silly or acting funny because they say a lot of things, but behind closed doors, that’s not what they say. They said they wanted to fight, even though I arranged a fight.

“They wanted to make it look like I was bending over. If they want to act funny, then I’ll step forward [Jermall] Charlo, and we’re going to make that fight happen. I didn’t play with any of those boys.

“I will go to Dirrell, and I will go to David or Charlo, and we can make either of those battles happen. Surname [Team Benavidez] had a lined up match against Lemieux, which was the provisional belt.

“That match for me could have been because of the temporary belt. He cried to fight Canelo. Why would he risk his makeshift belt against Canelo? He only says things to the media, and they both lie a lot.

“I want to be the undisputed champion. I’m looking to erase the split and rematch Canelo. But first thing, I’m completely focused on October 15 before Anthony Dirrell.

“I don’t have any other wars on my mind. I’m not interested in fighting anyone else right now. I will finish the plate of food in front of me, and then I will move on to the next part.

“Yes, for sure. Whatever I have to do to erase the division,” Plant said when asked if he wanted to fight Demetrius Andrade at 168.

“To get the rematch against Canelo, that’s what I’m focused on and that’s what I want to do. First thing, I just focus on Anthony. I have two other big fights that can be done on the PBC side. I don’t refuse anyone.

“Yes, it is a fight that I want. It’s a fight that fans want and boxing needs. So I’m going to step right to that, and again, if we can’t get it done because they’re behaving as funny or silly as they’ve been in the past, then I’m going to step right up to Charlo to see if I can just make that fight,” Plant said when asked if he would eventually fight Benavidez next.

“You can use it as motivation, but I don’t take it personally because nine times out of ten people are talking bad about you, they don’t support you. They didn’t do what you are doing.

Plant said of Dirrell, “He was a clown, he said he had no powers. “I believe Canelo wins,” Plant said when asked who will win the September 17 match between Canelo Alvarez and Gennadiy Golovkin.
