Budget deficit hits 59% full-year target in November
NEW DELHI: Government budget deficit at the end of November hit 59% of the full-year budget estimate, according to data released by the General Administration of Accounts (CGA) on Friday. In fact, the fiscal deficit – the difference between expenditures and receipts – was Rs 978,154 crore between April and November 2022-23.
In the same period last year, the overspending was 46.2% of the 2021-22 budget estimate.
For the period 2022-23, the government’s budget deficit is estimated at Rs 16.61 lakh or 6.4% of GDP.
