BAYC parent company Yuga Labs hires former Activision Blizzard CEO as CEO


The CEO of Call of Duty producer Activision Blizzard, Daniel Alegre, will join Bored Ape NFT producer Yuga Labs as chief executive officer, the metaverse startup said on Monday.

The announcement comes days after the Biden administration sued to block the tech giant MicrosoftUS$69 billion (nearly Rs 570,300) takeover activated.

Alegre, who has been the video game publisher’s chief executive officer since April 2020, will succeed Nicole Muniz as yugain the first half of 2023. Muniz will continue to be a partner and strategic advisor to the company.

Activision did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.

“Since bursting into the scene with bored ape Yacht Club in 2021, Yuga Labs has quickly made a name for itself thanks to its strong combination of storytelling and community building,” said Alegre.

The startup in March said it was valued at $4 billion (nearly Rs 33,100) following a $450 million (nearly Rs 3,700) funding round led by a16z crypto, Andreessen Horowitz’s crypto fund .

One NFT or a non-fungible token is a digital asset that uses blockchain technology to record the owner of a digital object such as an image, video, or in-game item. Ape NFT is boring often used as profile pictures on social media.

Back in September, Yuga . Lab appoint Spencer Tucker as its Game Director. This is the first time that Yuga Labs, founded in 2021, has hired someone who specializes in leading its game-related plans and initiatives.

Previously, Tucker was President of Games at Scopely and served as Senior Vice President of Product at Gree International Entertainment.
