Sony revealed a brand new story trailer for God Of War Ragnarok today Live stream status. The video showcases otherworldly images, including alien jellyfish, giant dinosaur-like creatures, and, notably, a key scene in which Atreus appears ushering in the Fimbulwinter, the apocalypse, along with Sköll and Hati – two wolves that are children of Fenrir. According to Norse mythology, Sköll and Hati were two wolves that existed until one day sparked the beginning of Ragnarök by chasing and devouring the sun and moon. Obviously that’s what’s happening in this new trailer, but why is Atreus helping them?
Also, it seems Atreus is hiding important information from his father, Kratos, so why would Kratos follow his teenage son’s orders? Why is Freya holding a sword to Atreus’ neck in the trailer? Is she holding Atreus hostage or trying to show Kratos the same pain she suffered after her son Baldur was killed in the first game? The trailer generated more questions than answers, exactly what I wanted from my pre-launch marketing.
We’ll have to wait to find the answers to these questions when God Of War Ragnarok releases on November 8th. In the meantime, let me know your story theory in the comments section below!
