Amish girl returns home in Holden . community welcome parade

HOLDEN, Mo. (KCTV) – A 5-year-old girl returned home to a hometown party Saturday in Holden, Missouri, after being injured in a carriage crash.

The girl and four family members were seriously injured when a car crashed into the family’s carriage as they were returning home from church in late August.

On Saturday, people in the community lined up on the street when the girl came home from the hospital.

The crash happened on August 29 when the family was hit by a 71-year-old man driving a 2003 Mercury. Accident reports showed the vehicle was turning onto Highway 58 and was hit by a vehicle traveling at 60 mph.

A neighbor told KCTV5 that the scene was traumatic and he believes it was a miracle that the family survived.

“I was trying to find the car they were in because we are neighbors and we do a lot of things together and no car was found. Then I realized it was just pieces everywhere,” said neighbor Dan Atkinson.
