Amarnath Yatra 2022: Jammu and Kashmir Police issues traffic advisory

Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police on 3 July issued advice to tourists, pilgrims and truckers on the Srinagar-Jammu highway during Amarnath Yatra.

As advised, empty tankers and trucks with up to 10 wheels will move across Mughal Road towards Jammu. Cargo trucks with up to 10 wheels, including those carrying perishable fresh goods, will preferentially use the Mughal Road towards Jammu.

Mughal Road times have also been increased from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., subject to a daily review by traffic authorities, the consultant said.

In addition, trucks over 10 wheels will pass through QL-44 (Srinagar-Jammu highway). Trucks with more than 10 wheels loaded with fresh perishables must arrive at Jakheni Naka / Qazigund Naka by 2pm. These trucks will be parked separately and will have priority when traffic is cleared, the advisory added.

Pilgrims and tourists in the Kashmir Valley other than those passing through the Yatra convoy are advised to travel only between 7am and 6pm.

In the event that they are unable to reach their destination within 6pm, security forces will suspend them overnight at the nearest motel centre, the advisory said.
